FOUNDER/DIRECTOR

Zoë

Clinical Musculoskeletal (MSK) & Neuro Rehabilitation Specialist

Zoë is a dedicated professional whose 16 years of study and hands-on experience led her to found Maintain Independence in September 2024. After spending over 7.5 years managing a rehabilitation service within the care industry, she saw first-hand the lack of tailored support and understanding for older adults and those living with dementia.

Determined to make a difference, Zoë built Maintain Independence to bridge that gap, helping people stay active, independent, and confident in their everyday lives. Avoiding hospital readmission and allowing those who need the support stay in their own homes and out of care.

A Clinical Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Specialist (with advanced qualifications in Neurological and pulmonary rehabilitation) and a Certified Nutritionist, Zoë approaches rehabilitation from all angles. Her diverse qualifications and experience allow her to design comprehensive, evidence-based programmes that address both the physical and neurological aspects of recovery.

Recognised for her expertise in soft tissue work, Zoë’s results speak for themselves. She takes an investigative, holistic approach to uncovering the root causes of pain and dysfunction, caring deeply about her work and the clients who trust her with their rehabilitation journey.

Zoë has had a unique opportunity to work directly alongside dementia specialist care providers and Admiral Nurses, and through this experience has developed extensive expertise in dementia rehabilitation. She firmly believes that, when the time comes, a truly good end of life should be possible for everybody—one that is dignified, compassionate, and centred around choice.

During her time working within this sector, Zoë has helped countless individuals remain in their own homes, stay out of hospital, and maintain their independence for as long as possible. She has supported people through periods of uncertainty and decline, and in several cases has helped individuals in their 90s return home and live fulfilling lives after believing that a care home was their only option. Her work focuses not just on physical ability, but on confidence, reassurance, and preserving what matters most to each individual and their family.

Zoë’s passion and drive led to the creation of Maintain Independence, which received its first award in its very first year from the Cheshire Chambers of Commerce. She has also partnered with several local charities, community groups, and domiciliary care providers who recognise the value of this unique service in keeping their clients pain-free, mobile, and—in some cases—changing the trajectory of their lives forever.

In addition to this, Zoë’s expertise has been called upon during research projects in collaboration with universities and NHS England, focusing on falls prevention, mobility aid development, and improving functional independence in later life.
